Cold runner molds are a type of mold consisting of two or three plates. The molten material is first injected into the mold through a sprue bushing and then fills a network of channels leading to the cavities of the mold.

The main difference is that in cold runner molds, the channels are not heated, unlike hot runner molds, where the channels are heated by a manifold to maintain a constant temperature of the melt.
